MAX BAMBURY

APPRENTICE QUANTITY SURVEYOR

CSCS Apprentice Operative Cardholder

Max developed a passion for the construction industry from the age of 17 following a week’s work experience with an international construction company. Max quickly progressed this interest and when he was 18 he joined a Midlands based construction company as an apprentice Quantity Surveyor in 2022.

His first project was at the Newmarket July Racecourse, supporting the QSs with a £2.5 million Weighing Room refurbishment and new Champagne Bar project.

This experience provided Max with a good foundation in construction and his talents were quickly identified. Max was soon managing sub-contractor packages and pushing out procurement as well as populating cashflow and procurement schedule documents for the internal team.

Impressively, by the time Max was 19 he had taken the commercial lead and was the main point of contact for 2 projects; a 116,000 sq ft warehouse and office refurbishment in Wolverhampton, and a demolition and rebuild project for a new classroom at Hallfield School, Edgbaston which came with the extra demands of working in a live environment.

This experience heightened Max’s desire for greater involvement in project management and Alcema was delighted when he joined the team in 2025 to deepen his knowledge and experience; Max is driven to deliver high-quality and cost-effective solutions which aligns with Alcema’s ethos perfectly.

Max has proven himself to be skilled in cost planning, tender preparation, conducting site measures as well as excellent in developing client relationships. He has shown himself to be adept beyond his years in client liaison which was highlighted during his experience as a main point of contact for client teams and sub contractors in his previous role. The fact Max was a Finalist in the Apprentice of the year Category at the Construction News Workforce awards 2024 highlights Max’s rapid progression and achievement.

As a team player Max likes to involve himself in all operational and commercial aspects. Keen to learn and understand, his open-minded approach and proactive attitude has made him a real mover and shaker, definitely one to watch for the future!
